A cat rescue centre has shared its concerns over its future as it struggles financially.

Kitty Rescue Bury, which looks after around 200 cats, says it only has "enough in the bank to pay some of our bills".

It fears it cannot see how it is "financially viable or responsible to continue with not enough money".

A spokesperson for the group said: "We are really concerned for the cats in our community as we are not sure if we can continue with the rescue.

"Financially things are so bad we only have enough in the bank to pay some of our vet bills.

"Once we use that we have nothing left to pay the rest of our bills.

"On top of that (there is) the cost of food and vet care for all the cats in our care going forward.

"We also have 200 cats relying on us for food with all the strays, colonies and fosters cats.

"We never want to stop helping cats, we get asked to help so many every day who desperately need us.

"Sadly, we can't see how it's financially viable or responsible to continue with not enough money.

"We don't want to ask you guys for money all the time and we don't want to keep stating how bad things are and our worries about closing down.

"The reality is this is a regular occurrence, this is the truth of what we face a lot.

"We really need a regular income we can rely on to stop this happening, to give us stability to rescue cats lives in the future."

The organisation has arranged a quiz and bingo night on Thursday, May 9 at Radcliffe Market and a raffle which will be drawn on Thursday, May 30 to raise funds.

The spokesperson added: "For now we are thinking of ways but the main idea is if all of our supporters donate £1 a month we wouldn't need to worry about asking for money again or that we will have to close.

"We think regular small monthly donations is the best way to save us.

"So please if you can afford to set up a regular donation of £1 a month you could be the reason we can continue.

"For fundraising we are also doing a quiz night and raffle where you have the opportunity to support us and win prizes.

"We don't ever want to stop helping cats, so many need us. I just hope that you can save us from this so we can save lives.

"We know times are tough, we just hope a lot of people can afford £1 month.

"If you can't afford to donate your shares really make a difference."
