A group of Bury creatives have launched a theatre production company to help support the region’s up-and-coming talent.
Northbound Productions, launched by friends Arthur Roadnight, Isobel Cunliffe and Naseem Partington, aims to offer free and affordable opportunities to young creatives who want to gain professional quality experiences in the arts.
After its launch, the company put on its first production, a play called Inside Voice, at the King’s Arms in Manchester and have run drama workshops with schools in Bury including Woodhey High School.
The company is now working in collaboration with Summerseat Players at the Theatre Royal to stage a new play about how housing developments on green belts can affect the younger generation.

Treasurer Arthur Roadnight, from Ramsbottom, said he hopes the company can help to nurture talent across Bury.
He said: “We realise there is a big financial barrier to having a career in the arts, there’s always going to be a stage where you have nothing on.
“We wanted to give opportunities to people who are in that gap, and a way to collaborate with other people at that stage.”
“Bury is one of the places the Arts Councils says lacks funding for the arts.”.
They have teamed up with the Summerseat Players, a theatre group based at the Theatre Royal in Ramsbottom to stage a production of a new play by Elliot Scott.

It is set across four seasons and follows four boys as their friendships fall apart and their once beautiful countryside town is destroyed by construction sites.
Elliot, writer of An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, said, “The play invites the audience to watch the lives of four young people unravel as they witness the complete transformation of the natural landscape by which they define themselves, exploring the consequences of this loss and shining a light on the importance of heritage for young people."
You can watch An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty at The Theatre Royal in Ramsbottom on Saturday, April 20 and Sunday, April 21 with a matinee on the latter day.
