Music makes my life infinitely better. It enriches it everyday.

I prefer to work with the loudest possible music piped into my ears or blasting from speakers.

It touches all aspects of living well. It lifts my mood, boosts my productivity and kicks my backside in the gym.

It keeps me sane in a chaotic world and has given me some of my life’s best moments.

So I was inspired to hear the Labour leader, and I hope next Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, call for a renaissance in our nation's arts and creative industries.

Labour champions a future where everyone, regardless of background, can access and be exposed to, the transformative power of the arts.

The next Labour government will see the arts play an important role in igniting economic prosperity.

Labour’s mission-driven approach puts economic growth first. But growth without enriched lives, changing the day to day for the better, is aimless.

Labour governments understand that its job is to help improve everyday life for the many. It’s why Sure Start, the Minimum Wage, the highest NHS patient satisfaction rates as well as the revival of British music is just some of the legacy of the last time Labour were in government.

In Bury North we play by the rules to make ends meet. We know things are tough but know many have it even tougher.

Working hard should be enough to move on up.

This Tory government and its defenders fail to understand that if living doesn’t get better, there’s little to boast about of the money that’s been spent. Let alone when you count what it’s withheld or wasted.

The arts must not be reserved for the privileged few.

Central to Labour's vision is the principle of inclusivity. Labour will create new partnerships with our creative industries and amplify the chances for children of all backgrounds. With more entering meaningful jobs for future generations.

Labour promises to instil creativity in every classroom, nurturing vital skills and bolstering confidence from early childhood.

A new National Music Education Network will provide vital support for budding artists so no talent remains undiscovered. Unwavering support for local arts institutions will safeguard cultural hubs at the heart of our communities.

Measures to protect fans from exploitation and combat ticket touting will ensure fair access to cultural events.

Labour is committed to equalising access to art, bringing exhibitions and performances to every corner of the nation.

In a bid to empower creatives, Labour plans to create a robust financial framework, drawing in private investment to unlock the full potential of the creative sector. Elevating further British culture on the global stage by cutting red tape and freeing up our musicians and artists to shine internationally.

Things can only get better.
