Tree-mendous! A broken lamp-post proved to be the ideal location for a tree to grow at the side of the Bury to Manchester railway line in 1974.
The hardy plant had sprung up at the Hagside level crossing in Radcliffe and seemed to be doing well in spire of its unusual surroundings.
There was a time when signal boxes were familiar sights at railway crossings all over the area.
Wonder what happened to the tree?
