Labour also confirmed he has had the whip withdrawn pending a further investigation.
At the time, a police spokesperson said: "Greater Manchester Police arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of stalking and harassment.
"He has since been released on police bail pending further investigation."
However on Tuesday, Greater Manchester Police confirmed no further action is being taken against Cllr Tariq.
And he has now been reinstated back into Labour and has taken his role, which he serves as the cabinet member for health and adult care.
A Labour party spokesperson has confirmed that he had his suspension lifted.
Cllr Lucy Smith has been serving as the deputy leader and Cllr Nathan Boroda has been acting as the cabinet member for health and adult care during Cllr Tariq's absence in the cabinet.

Meanwhile, Cllr Tariq has been supporting the Fishpool community after the house explosion on Nelson Street last week, which happened just yards away from his home.
He has set up a GoFundMe crowdfunding page to help residents who lost their homes try and rebuild their lives as well as a community spirit event where The Dutch Fishmen offered fish, chips and burgers to the community.

Speaking about the incident, he said: “The local community is coming together to support the families affected and fundraise for them.
“The families affected have lost their homes entirely and it remains unclear if they will ever see their belongings again and in what state. Let’s all do what we can.
"This could have happened to any one of us.”
