Young adventurers have been given a lesson about the borough after a visit to Bury Town Hall.

Members of the 11th/24th Bury Beavers and Cubs at St John and St Marks went to the town hall in an event hosted by borough mayor Sandra Walmsley.

They were guided on a tour of the council chamber and mayor’s parlour, learning all about the council and its role within the community.

The group were given information about the history and traditions of council and mayoralty, viewed historical artefacts - and even got to try on the mayoral robes.

They also took part in a Q&A session, asking some very interesting questions.

There was even time to celebrate one of their fantastic and dedicated leaders’ birthdays, singing a very loud rendition of "Happy Birthday" in the council chamber to volunteer Joy.

Beavers leader Ciaron Boles said: “Being a volunteer gives me the opportunity to provide kids with new experiences, learn all about the world around them, all while having fun."
