A CCTV appeal has been launched after shoplifter attacked a staff member. 

The woman was stopped for stealing from a shop on St Johns Square in Bury at 3.52pm on Sunday, February 4.

Police said while leaving the shop, she assaulted an employee who did not suffer serious injuries.

The woman is described as 5'4, in her mid 30s and was wearing a black coat.

She left the shop towards Foundation Street North.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward and have released a CCTV image of a woman they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.  

Information can be shared via 101, quoting log 2,047 of February 4.
