This photo from March 1979 shows major changes taking place in Bury town centre.
In the background behind the decorated hoardings work was continuing on the new bus-rail interchange which was scheduled for completion by the end of the year.
Kay Gardens was also due for a facelift with the gardens being relaid and given a new look to coincide with the opening of the interchange.
Do you remember Kay Gardens from this period?
