A Bury cat rescue charity is hosting an online auction ahead of Valentine’s Day to help raise funds for stray and feral animals in the area.
Kitty Rescue Bury is asking romantics to ditch the chocolates and flowers in favour of bidding on a range of items available at the auction including candles, books and bath bombs.
As an extra incentive, the charity is offering the person who spends the most money at the auction a free bottle of prosecco.
The foster-based rescue is run entirely by a team of eight volunteers and relies solely on public donations.
They currently have 303 cats in their care.
Each feline rescued gets basic vet treatment consisting of flea and worming, microchip, neutering and essential vaccines.
Many of the cats come to the charity with more serious health issues which can cost thousands of pounds each to treat.
The charity’s vet bill for January alone stands at £13,381 and the amount continues to rise as demand for the service escalates.
The auction will be live until midnight on Sunday, February 4, so people can bag a present for a loved one - or themselves - ahead of Valentine's Day.
You can find out more about the auction on the Kitty Rescue Bury Rescue Page.
