A woman was arrested and a suspected stolen van and digger found after police tracked a van with what they believed to be cloned plates.
The van was seen by police in the Walmersley Road area on Saturday January 27.
The officers stopped it after becoming suspicious, before further examining the vehicle.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “Officers, PC Webb and PC Jones, were able to successfully locate a transit van which was suspected of being on cloned plates.
“This resulted in two stolen vehicles being recovered and one offender being arrested.
“Eagle eyed PC Jones saw the van being driven in the Walmersley Road area and was able to stop the driver who she subsequently arrested.
“It was established that the van was in fact on cloned plates with the true vehicle being an outstanding stolen; to our surprise when looking in the back of the van we discovered a digger which turned out to also be stolen!”
Police have confirmed that the woman has been arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and that two vehicles they suspect were stolen have been seized.
