A historic steam train is on track to run on the East Lancashire Railway (ELR) line in April.
Steam locomotive 4079 “Pendennis Castle” will be visiting the ELR on April 10 to 14, April 20 to 21 and April 27 to 28 as the vehicle will be turning 100 years old this February.
Originally built for the Great Western Railway, the locomotive is renowned for outperforming its rivals in speed and efficiency, as well as working alongside the Flying Scotsman in Australia.

ELR chairman Mike Kelly said: “It’s an incredible opportunity to be able to welcome “Pendennis Castle” to ELR, especially for its 100th anniversary.
“Anyone who loves trains will want to catch a glimpse of this iconic locomotive, or even eat a luxury meal while being pulled behind it.”
