A Bury man says weeks of missed bin collections has left rubbish "overflowing" and attracting rats.
Lee Watkins, of Fairy Street, says that communal bins outside his block of flats have not been cleared by the council’s refuge team for around six weeks.
The 52-year-old business owner says bin collections are meant to be carried out every three weeks.
But despite this, rubbish from his and other residents’ flats has not been taken away since before Christmas.
Lee said the issue of uncollected refuse has been a long term issue on his street, and despite reporting the problem, it has not been resolved.

He said: “It’s been going on for years.
“The bins are full and we’ve got three grey bins, they are supposed to be collected every three weeks and its now been six weeks.
“[The council] said that if the bins are overflowing then they won’t collect them.”
To make matters worse, he says he suspects neighbouring properties have been dumping their own rubbish into his bin, causing them to overflow, and attracting pests.
He added: “Neighbours are coming in the night and throwing in their rubbish as well.
“Even the neighbours have said they have been seeing rats.
“The people across the road are having to keep their rubbish in their back garden which is attracting rats.”
Lee said that he has contacted the council about the matter on several occasions but says bin collections outside his flat continue to be missed.

He said: “Something needs to be done, we are paying for a service that we have no choice to pay but we are not getting that service.”
Lee said he would like the council to improve communication about public services with residents, and ensure that regular bin collections are make.
Since speaking to the Bury Times Lee says all but one of the site's bins have been collected.
The council has been contacted for comment.
