Extra police have been drafted into Bury town centre to tackle robbery.
Officers have cracking down on 'personal robbery' in the town centre and on the Metrolink by stepping up patrols and offering crime prevention advice to the public.
The crackdown is part of the force's Operation Acquire, which has seen four days of action carried out across the months of November and December 2023.
Neighbourhood officers across Greater Manchester have taken part in the four-day operation using with extra police resources drafted in to target and arrest those suspected of committing neighbourhood offences in Greater Manchester.
Eight warrants have taken place as well as making 111 arrests – including wanted suspects for neighbourhood crimes across Manchester.
Chief Superintendent Ian Jones from GMP’s Wigan district and also force lead for neighbourhood crime, said: “We have seen huge successes in the reduction of neighbourhood crime when officers take part in Operation Acquire, and these four days of action have been no different. We have continued the momentum of the operation by making over 100 arrests and conducting hundreds of hours of visible hotspot patrolling in areas in Greater Manchester that need us the most.
“We want the public to know that even though our days of identified action have concluded, we will still continue to be very visible in your community.
“We want you to be reassured that we are present, patrolling areas, conducting warrants and focusing on offenders that are attacking you, your family, your home and your community.
“As a force, we are looking to make a long-lasting difference to neighbourhood crime and want to equip the public with as much information as possible with tips and advice from officers to make it easy for you to make it hard for criminals and it is imperative to follow the advice to help keep yourself and your property safe from criminals."
This comes after GMP launched the operation in Bury last month.
Extra police resources have been deployed to target and arrest those suspected of committing neighbourhood offences in Greater Manchester.
It is the operation's third sequence of action after November and December last year, and June and July this year.
