Thousands of presents have been collected after a toy appeal in Bury town centre.
Seven cages full of toys have been donated to help ensure children in the borough can receive a special visit from Father Christmas this year.
Shoppers and staff at Tesco Bury have been praised for the huge number of donations made to borough charity The Attic Project, which will distribute the gifts to those struggling and in need this Christmas.
Community champion at Tesco Bury, Wendy Howarth, says the appeal had been a success and that around 2,000 toys had been donated.
She said: “It has gone well in Tesco Bury and we had seven full cages of toys donated.
“We would like to thank all their customers and colleagues for the amazing support to this year’s appeal, all toys have now been sent to Father Christmas ready for him to deliver on Christmas Day."
Earlier this month, a spokesperson from The Attic Project said on social media: “Wow just wow!
“Wendy and Team Tesco you are absolutely amazing.
“The crazy season is well and truly upon us and we are absolutely blown away by the kindness of our amazing community.
“A massive thank you to all the wonderful customers, staff, and to our truly amazing for these incredible toy donations”.
On December 12, the charity revealed from that day alone, more than 20 children were able to benefit from presents donated at Tesco Bury.
The spokesperson added: “Never are we quite blown away like we are at Christmas and sadly never have we had so many struggling and in genuine need.
“Thanks to an amazing community we are so very proud to be the valuable heartbeat of a community that comes together and genuinely cares.
“By coming together, we bring hope, and happiness, and add Christmas magic to so many local children and families struggling at this time.
“Please when you wake on Christmas morning, just take a moment to think of all the smiles we have created for so many and think of those we sadly could not."
