Tramlines going through Bury have been diverted because of an “object” caught in their overhead lines.
The lines affected on the evening of Saturday December 9 have been Altrincham to Bury, Manchester Airport to Victoria and Bury to Picadilly.
Both Market Street and Shudehill tram stops in Manchester city centre have been closed.
A statement from travel service Inrix said: “Tram stop closed on Manchester Metrolink at Market Street, and at Shudehill and services being diverted via Exchange Square due to object caught on the overhead line."
Inrix frequently presents updates on the state of public transport services as well as incidents across the roads across Greater Manchester and further afield.
While the tram stops at Market Street and Shudehill are closed all Bury to Altrincham and Manchester Airport services will instead go via Exchange Square in Manchester city centre.
Bury line trams will operate from Bury itself to Exchange Square.
