This is possibly one of the last photographs showing one of Bury’s ‘lost’ historic homes.
It was taken in 1965, the year before Ainsworth Hall was demolished.
Records of a property date back to Seventeenth Century and it’s likely the hall as you can see it here was built around 1730.
Various prosperous industrialists lived at the hall including members of the Whitehead family.
The hall would also be home to a boarding school for a time before reverting back to a private residence.
