Emergency services have returned to the area near Newby Close this morning after a concern for welfare call last night.
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said they were called at around 5.15pm last night to the water near the close.
Fire engines from Bolton North and Farnworth, the technical rescue units from Ashton and Leigh and the specialist water incident unit from Heywood were in attendance for two and a half hours.
They were later stood down for the night.
Emergency services have returned to the scene once again this morning including GMFRS crews, and a water incident unit, to assist police
CSI are on the scene currently.
Greater Manchester Fire Service confirmed they sent crews to the scene including the water incident unit to assist police.
It is now a police led incident and we are still waiting for the police to issue a statement.
