A man has been arrested after a 10-year-old boy was bitten by a loose dog.
In a video seen by the Lancashire Telegraph, the child is walking down Cedar Street with another person at around 12.20pm yesterday (Saturday, November 18).
As they reach a junction in the road, the dog runs out from the side of a house and immediately latches onto the back of the boy's coat.
The other person continually tries to pull them away from the dog, while two members of the public also came to his aid.
One tries to pry open the dog’s mouth to free the distressed boy, while another runs off to find additional help.
The video cuts off with the attack still taking place.
Police were called at around 12.30pm to reports that the boy had been bitten to the top of his leg. He was taken to hospital for treatment.
A spokesman for the police said: "The dog – which at this time we believe is an XL Bulldog type – has been seized.
"A short time later it was reported that threats had been made towards the family of the victim.
"A 27-year-old man from Blackburn was arrested on suspicion of assault – ABH and affray and has since been bailed pending further enquiries."
