The bomb disposal squad was called to an address in Whitefield to assist with the safe removal of material found.

They were dispatched on Wednesday, 15 November to assist with the safe removal and disposal of material found at the address.

A 74-year-old man was arrested in as part of the police investigation but has since been released on bail.

Police say there is no safety concern for the wider public.

A GMP spokesperson said: “In the early hours of yesterday morning (Wednesday, 15 November 2023), Greater Manchester Police officers attended an address in the Whitefield area.

“A 74-year-old man who was arrested as part of an ongoing police investigation has since been released on bail.

"As a precautionary measure, EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) assisted with the safe removal and disposal of material found in the address.

“There is no safety concern for the wider public."
