A Bury charity supporting blind and partially sighted people is inviting residents to pick up a unique gift for their loved ones this Christmas.

Bury Society for Blind and Partially Sighted People have announced that its craft and gift fair will take place on Sunday, November 19.

The fair, which will take place at Ramsbottom Civic Hall, will feature a variety of stalls offering a wide range of handmade local crafts and gift items perfect for that special Christmas gift.

There will also be a café and entertainment for that welcome refreshing break.

The fair opens at 10.30am until 2.30pm, it promises to be a fabulous day out.

Jill Logan, CEO of the charity, said, “this year we have some new stalls, as well as the regulars, and our elves are busy building a grotto for Father Christmas who is due to visit from 11.00am, so there’s something for everyone.

“We are delighted to be joined by a ‘Singing Santa’ this year, who may very well join our new singer, Ananché Jeffrey, one of our wonderful clients, in the Café for a Christmas Sing a Long! Why not come along and join in the fun.”

The craft and gift fair is one of a number of events in Bury Blind Society’s fundraising calendar.

In September, members of the charity abseiled down Peel Tower on Holcombe Hill and raised £1,600 to support their work.

Two registered blind clients, John Evans and Nadeem Rana, and 16 other participants took the 128ft drop on Sunday to raise money and show that there is a life after sight loss.

The society firmly believes that it isn’t about what you can’t do but what you can do.
