Bury Hospice has thanked a Ramsbottom insurance company for its ‘fantastic’ fundraising efforts after it raised thousands at a charity ball.

Munro Greenhalgh Limited on Bridge Street held its annual fundraiser in support of the hospice in October, raising thousands of pounds to support the vital service.

The event, which took place at The Stables Country Club, Walshaw, raised £3,200, coming from proceeds the ball and the auction of a signed Liverpool FC shirt.

The Oscars-themed event's entertainment included Irish music and dancing, an Oscars presentation and a Take That tribute band.

Munro Greenhalgh, a long-time supporter of the hospice, asked guests to either dress in black tie or take a shot at dressing as a Hollywood star, with a Marilyn Monroe and a Mrs Doubtfire making an appearance.

Director Stephen Cadman said: "As well as having a great time at ‘the Oscars’, we do take great pride in knowing that monies raised go directly to helping Bury Hospice.

“Locally, we believe there is not a better recipient of our financial support."

Nina Camplin, Corporate Fundraiser at Bury Hospice, said: "Munro Greenhalgh's efforts in raising this money are fantastic.

“We really appreciate their continued support and would like to take this opportunity to thank them.

“Without such generosity from the community it serves, the hospice would just not be able to continue to provide compassionate, palliative and end of life care to hundreds of patients and their families.

“It takes £4m annually to fund the hospice and 87 per cent of this is raised through public donations, legacies, retail and fund raising."
