A man has suffered serious injuries after a reported stabbing in Radcliffe this morning, Sunday.

Emergency services were called to a property on Water Street at around 11.30am and a 34-year-old man was taken to hospital.

An eyewitness said he saw a boy run into the nearby Tesco Express before police were called. 

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) forensics officers are in attendance with Water Street closed off as part of the investigation.

The forensics officers have been spotted going inside a couple of homes as part of their work.

No arrests have been reported.

A GMP spokesperson said: "At around 11.30am today (Sunday) Greater Manchester Police were called to reports of a man seriously injured outside a premises on Water Street in Radcliffe.

"Officers and paramedics attended, and a 34 year old man was taken to hospital.

"Water Street is currently closed as an investigation is underway to understand the circumstances that led to this man’s injuries.

"Initial enquiries point to this being an isolated incident, with no threat to the wider public."

In a post on Facebook earlier today, Radcliffe West Cllr Des Duncalfe said: "There has been an incident on Grosvenor Street, Radcliffe, which is yet another stabbing.

"The victim made his way to Tesco on Water Street where police and ambulance were called.

"The victim has been taken away by air ambulance.

"His injuries are said to be possibly life changing but not life threatening at the moment.

"All the bottom of Ainsworth Road has a high police presence and traffic is difficult in the area."

At LA Pizza on Water Street, one of the employees said he saw a boy and a girl "fighting" and coming from the direction of Grosvenor Street.

He said the boy then ran into the Tesco Express store.

The employee said he then saw Tesco staff calling the police.

The staff member also showed CCTV footage taken from the shop at around 11.35am.

The video captured two people run from the direction of Grosvenor Street and into the Tesco Express store on Water Street.

The worker added: "It happens everywhere. I don't know what happened to him but I saw loads of blood.

"I don't see much of this kind of thing (a stabbing)."

A Tesco staff member confirmed police were called after the incident.
