Two women will appear in court in a case linked to the murder of a teenage boxer from Bury.

In May 2021, three men were jailed for life after being found guilty of the murder of 18-year-old Cole Kershaw who was shot in the chest after he and his friends were pursued by a silver BMW.

Cole died after he was shot on Chesham Road in Bury at around 9.40pm on August 12, 2020.

Kamran Mohammed, 20, Mohammed Izaarh Khan, 22, and Khayam Ali Khurshid, 29, all from Bury, were sentenced following a five-week trial at Manchester Crown Court.

The court was told that Mohammed, Khan, and Khurshid were all occupying the BMW chasing the Ford Mondeo that Cole and four others were in.

Two shots had been fired while the BMW was pursuing the Mondeo, and a fatal third shot was discharged after Cole and his friends got out of their car and tried to escape.

The incident happened after a dispute between Mohammed and a friend of Cole, and the court heard that the target of the shooting was Cole's friend, rather than Cole himself.

Mohammed was sentenced to serve a minimum term of 27 years, Khan was handed down 24 years, Khurshid was sentenced to 27 years.

More than two years on from the sentencing, it has emerged that Farah Khan, 27, of Maryport Drive, Timperley, and Husna Khan, 28, of Redwing Street, Winsford, are due to appear at Manchester Crown Court next year charged with assisting an offender.

A trial date has been set for Monday, June 24, 2024.

The King Cole Legacy was set up in Cole's memory to help save young lives and raise awareness of gun and knife crime via youth educational and sporting projects.

In August this year, The King Cole Academy boxing gym was opened at Gigg Lane to honour his legacy.

The gym will hold youth boxing, mixed martial arts and fitness classes for all abilities.
