A college in Bury has reported a “minor incident” this week that was quickly dealt with.
The incident is believed to have happened at around 2.15pm on the afternoon of Wednesday September 27 at Bury College on Market Street.
College authorities say that the “non-compliance” incident took place in just one area.
A spokesperson said: “Bury College is nationally recognised for its robust and effective safety arrangements.
“All staff, students and visitors work together to ensure a safe and secure learning environment.
“A key safety priority at the College is to ensure all staff, students and visitors visibly wear their identity badge.
“There was a minor incident yesterday involving non-compliance in one area of the College that was quickly resolved.”
Contrary to speculation online the college itself was not locked down due to the presence of an intruder at any time on that day.
Greater Manchester Police have confirmed that they were made aware of a possible intruder at around 2.15pm that afternoon but that police officers had not been necessary at the scene and that the college was not locked down.
Anyone with any further concerns can call police on 101 or 999 in the event of an emergency.
