Strong winds and heavy rain will hit Bury this afternoon as a yellow weather warning is issued across the region.
Storm Agnes will bring strong and destructive winds and rain to the borough along with the North of England, the Midlands and Scotland.
The Met Office, which monitors the weather, has issued a yellow weather warning for large parts of the UK starting from midday today, Wednesday, which is set to large throughout the day into the early stages of tomorrow, Thursday.
The weather service has warned that the storm will bring an increased risk of injury and danger to life and has issued advice on staying safe in strong winds.

It said: “Injuries and danger to life from flying debris are possible.
“Some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs, could happen.
“Some power cuts are likely to occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage.

“Road, rail, air and ferry services may be affected, with longer journey times and cancellations possible. Some roads and bridges are likely to close.
“There is a small chance of injuries and danger to life that could occur from large waves and beach material being thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads and properties, with a chance of some minor flooding of coastal roads.”
The Met office advised caution if travelling by car in the storm and warned against travelling in heavy downpours.

In strong winds, it advices people to stay indoors as much as possible and if going out, to avoid walking of sheltering close to buildings or trees.
