A primary school in Bury has praised hardworking staff following a “highly successful” effort to improve its curriculum.
Sunny Bank Primary School on Hathaway Road received praise from education watchdog Ofsted following its most recent inspection which praised leaders’ sharp focus providing the best quality of education for all pupils.
The school was inspected in June for the second time since joining Vision Multi Academy Trust and retained its previous rating of "good".
Inspectors also praised the school's commitment to fostering a love of reading among its pupils including encouraging them to pick up books using games and rewards.
In its report, inspectors said: “Following the previous inspection, leaders have placed a sharp focus on improving the design of the curriculum across the school.

“They have been highly successful in developing the subjects that pupils study.
"Leaders are determined to continue this improvement work, so that pupils experience the very best quality of education.
“The curriculum is broad, balanced and commensurate with the national curriculum.
“Teachers understand the subject-specific content that pupils should learn and when this should be taught.
"As a result, most pupils, including children in the early years, learn and achieve well.”
Inspectors also found that pupils were proud and happy to be part of the school where they often take part in community activities and raise money for charity.
Headteacher James Gabrielides said: "We are delighted our school has been recognised for its high expectations, curriculum design, educational provision and personal development alongside our children's sense of pride in their school community.
“Our recent positive Ofsted inspection is the culmination of a sustained focus on improving Sunny Bank Primary at all levels for the benefit of our amazing children, their families and the wider community we serve.

“All staff deserve great credit and kudos for their skillset, hard-work, determination and commitment. And I know staff will continue to work hard to improve the school further."
