The World Black Pudding Throwing Championships in Ramsbottom was a hit once again with residents at the weekend.

People travelled from far and wide to the town on Sunday to knock down as many Yorkshire puddings as possible with black puddings.

Some came from as far as Spain, Poland and Australia.

They gathered outside The Oaks pub on Bridge Street to see the quirky traditional contest in action.

The all day event saw young and old get involved for a small fee, with the proceeds going to local charities, and this year the winner was Ramsbottom’s very own Stu Pearson.

Stu knocked six off when he first competed but tied with Wayne Boswell.

But after a throw-off, Stu was declared the winner.

Jonathan Semple, from Edgworth, took the junior champ title, knocking off five black puddings.

There was also plenty of entertainment on offer, including Pudfest, which saw live music performed out the back of the pub in Memories Courtyard, as well as fairground rides and trampolines for the kids, and food stalls.

After reporting on the event at the weekend with photographer Danny Crompton's pictures, above is a gallery of photographer Phil Taylor's images.
