A new nightclub will open inside a Bury furniture shop tonight, Friday, aiming to bring a “city centre vibe without the city centre prices”.
Club Den is a new venue situated on one floor of a five-storey mill on Wellington Street.
It has around a 220-person capacity and will typically be open on Fridays from 10pm to 3.30am and Saturdays from 9pm to 3.30am.
The venue, which will specialise in music nights similar to the style that legendary Manchester club The Haçienda ran, is sharing the building with Den Living Furniture, after owner Danny Healey liked the idea of doing something different with the space they had.
Luke Grey, 25, from Whitefield, is the manager of the club and said he is excited to get started.
He said: “We don’t want to be a typical club, we want to stand out and be different and appeal to all ages.
“We aren’t in the town centre, so I did have concerns about people not being able to see us on their nights out but, as I thought into it, I realised that wasn’t what we wanted anyway.
“We want to be a destination that people are coming to and spending their nights here because of what we are offering.”
Luke said the venue will be playing more house and urban-style music on Fridays.
And on Saturdays the club will take inspiration from The Haçienda, playing mixes of disco, house and club classics but is only open to people aged 21 and over.
Luke said: “This is something I don’t feel Bury has, a proper venue destination to come to and spend your night at with the goal of enjoying the music and having fun – not just going out to get drunk.
“In the town centre, I feel like a lot of people come and go and it isn’t always that busy so we want to give people a reason and a place to stay out.”
Luke added: “We want to bring that element of being at a venue in the city centre but without the heavy prices that usually come with going out in Manchester.”
Club Den can also be hired out as an events space for events such as live gigs, parties and wedding receptions.
The opening event tonight will run from 9pm to 3.30am with the last entry at 1.30am.
There will be fire performers and stage dangers from Euphoria Entertainment and music from MrOfficialUK
