Ramsbottom will celebrate the town’s LGBTQ+ community at its first ever Pride event next month.
Ramsbottom Pride will take place on Saturday, September 23 at the Ramsbottom Civic Hall with a variety of entertainment and activities on offer.
The event has been organised by the owner and staff at the Pink Rhino, an inclusive bar on Market Place.
Rammy Pride will be the first such event in the town, joining other pride events across the borough including in Bury and Prestwich.
Organiser Daniel Armstrong said Pride events were becoming much more commonplace in smaller towns as well as cities, and it was about time that Ramsbottom has its own.

He said: “All these prides are popping up in towns now, so why can’t Ramsbottom have one [too].
“When I was a child and then a teenager and starting to come out, we went to the city because we felt safe in the city, now all the towns are doing gay pride and gay bars are popping up in little towns.”
Local businesses have already shown their support for the event, which is sponsored by Wickes.
Morrisons is having a banner made ahead of the festivities and Daniel is encouraging as many business in the town to get involved.
Rammy Pride will also feature a number of stallholders including Glitter and Glow, Need that Thread and the Proud Trust.
There will be DJs performing throughout the day as well as performances from Emma Connor, James Gunn Johnson, The ImprompTUNES and more.

Daniel says that if this year's Pride goes well, he’d like to make the event even bigger next year.
He said: “We’re doing a drinks hunt and we’re getting the whole town involved. We’ve never done this before so we’re giving it our best shot.”
He also thanked everyone who has helped bring the idea to life, including Alan Lyons from the Pink Rhino, Lorraine Roach from Wickes and Jonny Shock and Joanne Holt from the ImprompTUNES. He also thanked Sara McNulty from the Ramsbottom Civic Hall.
Rammy Pride takes place from 11am to 11pm on Saturday, September 23 at the Ramsbottom Civic Hall.
