This was the end of an era as Heywood Street Methodist Church in Bury was demolished.
This photo is from December 1969 when the bulldozers moved in. The church had closed three years earlier when the Methodist churches in the town were centralised and had remained unused ever since.
The land was to be sold once demolition was complete. The church had held services for almost a century.
