A man suffered serious injuries and two groups of men were reported fighting with weapons on a night of violence in an area of Bury.

Police were called to a "disturbance" at a home on Kestrel Drive at around 10.50pm last night, Monday.

After emergency services arrived a man was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Police said initial enquiries suggested that a group of men forced entry into a property on Kestrel Drive and attacked the occupants.

Two groups of men were then seen fighting with weapons outside nearby road, Hawk Close.

Three people were taken to hospital with injuries not currently believed to be life-threatening.

Police have since arrested three men, aged 23, 43 and 56, on suspicion of assault and a man aged 29 was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder.

Several weapons including a hammer and knives were seized.
