Coronation Street star Helen Flanagan has been forced to clear up some rumours that she "got into an argument" after being "asked to leave" a restaurant for wearing a bikini.
The Bury-born actor has appeared in some news articles stating that she was ordered to leave a posh restaurant while on holiday in Barbados.
Speaking to her 1m Instagram followers, Helen said the whole situation was a “misunderstanding” adding that she was very polite.
She said: “There is this really stupid story that I keep seeing and I want to talk about it.
“I have seen a story about when I was in Barbados. [It says] I turned up to a really posh restaurant in a bikini and that I started an argument or something, because they wouldn’t let me go in a bikini.
“It is a total misunderstanding.”
Helen said she was going to a sister restaurant with a friend and believed it had a casual dress code, like hers did.
She said: “I was staying at a lovely all-inclusive. I was in the pool with my kids and I got friendly with his lady. She told me [where she planned to go for lunch].
“It is part of a sister hotel so is part of the all-inclusive.
“I thought: ‘We have been eating in the same place so I will try something different’.
“It was chilled were I was and you only needed to wear a cover up to eat your food.”
After getting a taxi to the next hotel Helen quickly realized the new site had a stricter dress code.
Helen, who played Rosie Webster on Coronation Street before leaving for maternity leave in 2018, said: “It was a really beautiful hotel, like the one I was staying at, but there was a misunderstanding as it wasn’t actually that [casual] dress code.
“I was very polite, I am always polite. I said it was no problem and that I will just sit outside.
“I don’t cause a fuss as I am not like that. It was just a misunderstanding.
“Another lady at the hotel said I could borrow a dress so I could go to a buffet.
“That was it but all I keep seeing is that I ‘turned up to a restaurant in a bikini’. It was just a misunderstanding.
“I didn’t realise it was a posh restaurant.
“It’s not even a big deal but sometimes I see these stories and [want to explain what really happened].
“I wouldn’t argue with someone.”
Helen went on the trip in July with her three children, Matilda, Delilah and Charlie.
The 33-year-old appeared on Olivia Marries Her Match last week.
The ITV show, which followed Olivia Attwood and ex-Rovers player Bradley Dack as they get marries.
In the episode, Helen spoke to friend Olivia who was on her hen party at O Beach in Ibiza, also known as "Ocean".
