The Manchester Airport junction on the M56 is currently closed in both directions after a police incident.
This incident has now been resolved.
It’s not currently known what the nature of the incident is, however those heading to the airport are advised the plans their route and allow extra time.
Road users are advised to use junction 6 instead of junction 5.
We have contacted Greater Manchester Police to find out some more information.
A spokesperson from North West Motorway Police said: “Access from the M56 at J5 to Manchester airport is currently closed from both directions.
“Also access from the airport via the M56 has been closed.
“Please consider alternative routes and allow extra travel time if heading to the airport.”
A spokesperson from National Highways North West said: “The M56 Junction 5 link roads into Manchester Airport are currently CLOSED in both directions due to a police incident.
“Please seek alternative routes and allow extra journey time. Road users travelling to the airport are advised to use J6.”
