Taken in 1976, this photo shows Radcliffe town hall which was at the centre of a major row at the time.
A major survey had been carried out by planning officials and local history experts leading to 76 buildings being recommended to the Department of the Environment to be ‘listed’ as they were of historic or architectural interest. But, the then 70-year-old, town hall was not on it.
