A man who grew up in Radcliffe has been awarded an OBE for his outstanding charity work across the globe.
Christopher Ashworth, age 47, has received an OBE from King Charles III for his charity work both within and outside of the United Kingdom.
Although he currently lives in Oxford, Chris lived in Radcliffe and attended Wesley Methodist School, Bolton School.
He received a first-class honours degree in marketing and business studies at Lancaster University.
Mum, Shirley Ashworth, said: “We are so proud of him.
“He doesn’t stop, at the moment he’s doing a degree in forestry management just for fun!”
After leaving university, where Christopher met his wife, the pair travelled to South Africa as volunteers and carried on travelling around the world from there.
Another of his ventures included travelling to South Korea to set up an Oxfam branch.
Shirley said: “He has always enjoyed working and putting in as much as he can and even though he and his wife are settled in Oxford with their two children now, he is still working so hard.”
Chris, who is currently the Head Of Social Impact at Nominet, has been working to challenge inequality and campaign for social justice for 20 years.
He was awarded his OBE for his outstanding services to social equality, inclusion and the voluntary sector.
Shirley said: “He has always been this way, even in school he just picked things up so naturally, but to see how far he has come makes me so proud of him.”
