Bury Hospice is helping grieving relatives create free interactive memorials to their loved ones.

We have teamed up with online memorial charity, MuchLoved, to help bereaved friends and family members build personal tribute web pages in memory of a loved one, while supporting the hospice.

MuchLoved is a charitable trust that was founded by Jonathan Davies in 1998 following the death of his brother and shortly afterwards his mother.

At the time he found very little resource online to help with his own grief, so Jonathan was inspired to design a web-based tribute service for others to use.

It is free of charge to set up a tribute page and once setup you can invite friends and family to join the page and choose the types of contributions people can leave.

Throughout the year you can celebrate key moments and dates by lighting a candle, uploading photographs, videos, music, a biography and donating in their memory.

Anyone who would like more information on our tribute pages can visit https://www.buryhospice.org.uk/give-in-memory or to set up a tribute page simply follow this link: https://buryhospice.muchloved.org/CreateMemorial.

A walk to remember is taking place on Saturday, September 30 at 4pm. We are delighted to be staging this memory walk.

It is a very special event for both the hospice and our supporters.

The event is sponsored by Unsworths Funeral Directors and East Lancashire Crematorium.

This year we have introduced a special lantern theme. All walkers will be invited to write a dedication on a paper lantern which will form a beautiful tribute to loved ones.

We want everyone to join us - men, women and children - to help us raise awareness of the service we provide to patients and their families across Bury.

The walk will commence at Whitefield Park and will finish at the hospice in Rochdale Old Road, making the route approximately 4.5 miles.

Anyone who would like a shorter route can walk from the premises of Unsworths Funeral Directors in Bury town centre, finishing at the hospice, which is approximately 1.5 miles.

It costs just £15 to sign up for an adult, with a suggested sponsorship of £50 and £5 for an under 16-year-old, with a suggested sponsorship of £20.

Participants will receive a hospice t-shirt, memory walk label and materials to create a lantern.

Refreshments will be provided along the route in Bury town centre and at the finish.

The tribute lanterns will be created at the start of the walk and on arrival at the hospice memory walkers can collect their lanterns and place them in our special lantern memorial garden, where they will be given time to reflect.
