A popular baker witnessed a sweet sell-out success last weekend when opening her new shop.

Georgia Goddard, 27, said she has been overwhelmed by support after selling out of almost every sweet treat in GG Bakes within nearly two hours of being open.

The store opened for the first time at 10am on Saturday, June 24, and queues of people quickly formed lining up Ainsworth Road to try some of Georgia's much-loved creations and celebrate the opening with face painting and prosecco.

Georgia, who has amassed more than 50,000 followers on social media through her cake and grazes business, said she can’t believe how many people came.

She said: “It was chaos, I didn’t know what to expect!

“I knew friends and family would come but even with the news doing well on social media, you don’t know how many people who have seen our posts or follow us will actually come.

“We had around five people at 10am and I turned around for a second and when I looked back people were queuing up the road.

“I made around 500 items, and we sold out of almost everything by 12.30pm so I have a lot of baking to do before we re-open on Wednesday.”

Customers were quick to sing the former Bury Grammar School pupil’s praises and pass on their good wishes for the new store as one woman said: “It looks incredible but it is going to be lethal for me.

“I only live round the corner so I have a feeling I will be back soon and often, there are so many things I want to try.”
