A man has been arrested after Jewish bus passengers were racially abused and a bus driver was spat on.
Police were called to Prestwich last night, Tuesday, after reports of a man, who was on the number 98 bus, racially abusing Jewish passengers.
The man is then said to have spat on the bus driver who tried to intervene.
Transport officers said that the offender left before police arrived but a man was later arrested.
A Greater Manchester Police (GMP) spokesperson said: "GMP Transport unit and GMP traffic were called to an incident tonight (Tuesday) in Prestwich.
"A report of a male on the number 98 bus, racially abusing Jewish passengers and spitting on the bus driver who tried to intervene.
"The offender made off from the scene prior to patrols arriving, but was tracked down by a traffic patrol arrested and taken to custody."
A GMP Traffic spokesperson added: "We won't tolerate this, the offender was located dancing at a bus stop on the route and we obliged by waltzing him off to custody."
