Celebrities added some glitz and glamour to a charity ball.

They were out to show their support to national cancer and pregnancy charity Mummy’s Star which celebrated its 10th anniversary.

And a Bolton mum took centre stage.

The glitzy charity ball took place at Manchester’s iconic Kimpton Clocktower Hotel.

Mummy’s Star supports women and families dealing with cancer in and around pregnancy, loss, birth and beyond – and they worked very closely with ITV’s Coronation Street during Sinead Tinker’s two-year award-winning cervical cancer and pregnancy storyline.

Model Christine McGuinness, and Bury’s Rhian Sugden and Sophie Brown walked the red carpet alongside a host of Coronation Street cast including another Bury born actress, Ellie Leach, Alexandra Mardell, Elle Mulvaney, Kel Allen, and Kimberly Hart-Simpson.

During the evening a video of a Bolton woman was played who is currently being supported by Mummy’s Star after being diagnosed with cancer shortly after pregnancy.

Stacey Withington's emotional video was said to have touched the room, and during Diamond Collective’s performance of This Is Me, Stacey took to the dancefloor for an emotional and brave dance alongside the seven performers.

The event was packed full of entertainment with an aerial artist performance, stilt walkers dressed as giant angels, dancing disco heads and much more.

Iconic 90s TV presenter Jenny Powell hosted the evening alongside Coronation Street actress Victoria Ekanoye also from Bury, who has a very close connection with the charity after publicly sharing her own cancer and pregnancy journey.

The evenings headline performers were The Diamond Collective, a group of seven West End superstars which includes Hollyoaks and Dancing on Ice 2022 star Carley Stenson and ITV’s Malpractice actress Kate England.

A video message from Patron Katie McGlynn was played during the evening as she was unfortunately unable to attend the ball due to currently being on a national theatre tour for Peter James’ Wish You Were Dead.

Artist Sarah Pardoe put the final touches to a painting live in the room that she had been working on for weeks, inspired by one of the charity’s many moving stories.

A spokesman for Mummy’s Star said: “The night wouldn’t have been possible without headline sponsors API Global and Baron & Cabot who very proudly came onboard as joint sponsors after hearing the amazing stories from Mummy’s Star and all of the incredible women and families that they support.”

The event was organised by Weird PR’s Lee Bennett and events guru Lisa Forshaw.

The total amount raised is yet to be announced.
