Three Unsworth councillors met with the Forestry Commission last week to discuss trees that were cut down on Croft Lane.
Nathan Boroda, Joan Grimshaw and Tahir Rafiq have been campaigning for the Forestry Commission to issue a ‘re-stocking notice’ since the trees were cut down in February.
The councillors say they are doing this so that the landowner would have to re-plant the trees that were cut down.
Councillor Nathan Boroda said: “Along with many residents, I was appalled when I saw that trees were cut down.
“At the meeting with the Forestry Commission, I stressed the need to implement a re-stocking notice, which is currently being considered by the Commission nationally.
“We will continue to keep residents updated and I am pleased that the Commission have agreed to attend the Hollins Village Community Association.”
At the meeting in the Town Hall, Jake Thomson, a Field Officer at the Commission, informed the councillors that he had carried out an investigation in the spring.
The next step is for the investigation to be reviewed by their national team who will determine what actions to take.
This could last until the end of 2023.
