A "bubbly and sociable" woman who was found dead at her partner’s home in Whitefield took her own life, an inquest has heard.

Victoria Sears, 38, was found unresponsive by her partner in February this year after she failed to get out of bed.

An inquest at Rochdale Coroners Court heard that Ms Sears, who was born in Salford, went to bed early on February 13 and was found by her partner in his home on Mersey Drive the following day.

Ms Sears’ room was found to contain various packets medication that she had been prescribed by her doctor as well as a note indicating her intention to take her own life.

Emergency services were called and police found no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death.

The court was told that Ms Sears, who was known to her family as Vicky, lived with a number of health conditions.

Her health conditions caused her physical pain which affected her mental health leading to anxiety and depression.

Ms Sears was described by her mother as a "bubbly and sociable" woman who loved spending time with her nieces, doing craftwork and watching TV.

She had studied childcare at Bury College and worked at nurseries but had given up work in the years before her death.

Area coroner for Manchester North, Catherine McKenna, accepted that Ms Sears’ cause of death had been respiratory depression due to drug toxicity, and ruled that Ms Sears had deliberately taken her own life.

In her closing remarks, she shared her condolences to Ms Sears’ family and friends.

She said: “[Ms Sears] was found deceased at her partners address, she had taken her own life by means of an overdose.

"The cause I record is one of suicide."
