Employers have teamed up with Bury College to ensure the next generation are equipped for the future.
The college's curriculum has been shaped by the help of business and industry as part of the The You Said We Did campaign.
The initiative is said to have improved many students’ experience at college and has also had an impact on different industries across Bury.

As part of the construction course local employers have noticed students need to be upskilled to recognise issues like damp.
The college developed a two-day retrofit course as a direct result for tradespeople and construction workers to help identify defects which has led to the college train local business employees in these vital skills.
Travel students have been asked by employers that they need to be able to upsell - which includes selling holiday features, duty-free and extra legroom - and this key part of the business is taught to Bury College students.

Acting employers stated performing arts students need to be better prepared for auditions in the industry and have increased confidence when going for a part to help career progression.
All students on this course have to go through an audition for progression onto the next level, to university, stage school or into industry to help them develop these skills.
Sports employers said sport students need to develop the different skills required of coaches, instructors, personal trainers, teaching personnel, and therapy professionals.
These specific skills, like coaching and massage, are said to help students stand out in a competitive marketplace and ensure they have secure employment.

Nigel Shields, Head of Employer Engagement and Skills at Bury College, said: “It’s been great to hear from employers over the last 12 months and to get their feedback on their needs.
“This has enabled us, as a college, to make subtle changes to how we do things in line with specific sectors.”
