ANDY Welsh says there are exciting times ahead following the announcement that football could be returning to Gigg Lane.
It comes after members of Bury FC Supporters Society (BFCSS) and Bury AFC’s Shaker’s Community Society have voted overwhelmingly in favour of merging together.
A ratification vote will take place late this month but the Bury boss says this is now a chance for the whole town to come together.
“It’s incredible news,” he said. “Ever since we came in to the club, we always said we wanted football to be played in Bury, it had to be in the heart of the community and hopefuly, that will now happen. While we were grateful to play our home games at Radcliffe FC, it was difficult at times because it wasn’t really our home and that was particularly the case when we had to play a number of our matches at Mossley.
“But now we are going home and it is just fantastic for everyone connected with the club, the players, the staff and the supporters.”
