Police have been out in Prestwich cracking down on crime on the roads.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) special officers were out in Prestwich on Sunday, running a road safety operation on Bury Old Road.
The operation, which lasted around five hours, consisted of officers doing checks on the state of vehicles and documents such as driving licences, insurance and whether they have an MOT.

Special constables, who are volunteers for the force, checked 64 vehicles and 31 drivers were reported for various offences including having no insurance, not wearing a seatbelt, no driving licence and using a mobile phone.

Special Constabulary Inspector Moshe Rothstein said: “It was a road safety operation that I run with my special constables on a semi regular basis and this particular operation was a large roadside one.
“Traffic, speed and traffic offences is currently one of the three divisional priorities and its one of the main complaints we get when we speak to the community.
“The one on Sunday was one of the large ones, we used to run them a lot more.

“Basically, we bring people in for various offences like no insurance, no driving licence and similar things.
"We do a full check and see what other offences come to light.
“We check documents, driving licence, insurance, tyres, lights, MOT, everything then they go.”
