Ahead of the King’s coronation next weekend we have put together a map of all the confirmed events and street parties taking places across the borough over the bank holiday weekend.

The coronation of King Charles III will take place on the morning of Saturday, May 6, at Wesminster Abbey.

Although the crowning will be London, there are almost 30 separate events being held in Bury to celebrate the occasion, from street parties and picnics to The Big Help Out on bank holiday Monday, May 8.

Within the borough, there are 17 confirmed street parties taking place between the Friday and Monday with one of the longest scheduled to run for nearly 14 hours.

PRESTWICH AREA

There are two confirmed street parties taking place in Prestwich, both will take place on Sunday, May 7.

Perrymead, between house numbers 1 and 28 will be hosting their street party from 10am until 8pm.

St Margarets Close will also hose a party, starting an hour earlier at 9am and lasting until 8pm. This is expected to take place from number 1A and number 4 up to the end of the cul-de-sac.

RADCLIFFE AREA

There will be three street parties hosted in Radcliffe over three separate days.

Wolsey Street will host the first, on Saturday, May 6, starting at 8am and lasting until 8pm. This will be between Abden Street up to the side of number 2 Wolsey Street.

Rush Acre Close will be second party and will cover the whole close on Sunday, May 7. This is expected to start at around 11am and finish at 7pm.

Albion Street will host the final street party in Radcliffe starting at 12pm and finishing around 11pm on Monday, May 8. This will cover the stretch of street between house numbers 2 and 13.

RAMSBOTTOM AREA

Only one street party has been confirmed in the Ramsbottom area which will take place on Saturday, May 6.

Higher Summerseat will host this from 11.30am until 6.30pm from Peel Hall Road to Heath Avenue (Beside the carpark at the Hamers).

BURY AREA

There have been nine confirmed parties taking place in the Bury area, three on the Saturday, four on the Sunday and two on the Monday.

Holcombe Avenue will host a party on Monday, May 6, between house numbers 42 and 66. This is expected to last between 10am and 10pm.

Birkdale Drive will host their party on the same day, starting at 10am and finishing around 11pm. This will cover the full length of the drive.

Myrtle Street North will also hold their party on the Saturday, starting at 12pm and finishing at 9pm. This will be between Back Laurel Street and Back Cedar Street.

Halstead Street will have their street party on Sunday, May 7, from 9am until 9pm. This will be between Back Chesham Road to Halstead Walk.

Wavell Drive will have their party on the Sunday from 2pm until 6pm between Parr Lane and Cunningham Drive.

Freckleton Drive will also have a street party on the Sunday from 11am until 2pm. This will take place between house numbers 7 and 29.

Leyland Street will hold their party on the Sunday from 9am until 11pm, the longest street party being held in Bury. This will cover the area between number 2 and number 18.

Burrswood Avenue will host their party on Monday, May 8, from 12pm until 6pm between How Lee Drive and Woodman Drive.

Silver Street and Moss Street in Bury Town Centre will also be close off for a street party that will cover Back Haymarket Street to Silver Street and Moss Street to Broad Street. This is expected to take place from 9am until 5pm on Monday, May 8.

TOTTINGTON AREA

There is one confirmed street party taking place in Tottington on Sunday, May 7.

Thornfield Road will be completely closed off on the Sunday from 12pm until 8pm, when the party is scheduled to take place.

WHITEFIELD AREA

There is one confirmed street party taking place in Tottington on Sunday, May 7.

Peveril Close will host a street party from house number 58 up to the end of the cul-de-sac. This is expected to begin at 12pm and finish around 5pm.

Alongside the street parties, there will be a number of coronation activities taking place across Bury which have been listed below:

 

Friends of Nuttall Park - Coronation Party in the Park

A Coronation Party in the Park will be taking place on Sunday, May 7, from 12pm until 4pm.

This will be held at Nuttall Park, Ramsbottom, Bury BL0 9LZ.

There will be live music including the Goodshaw Brass Band, a tea room, food, bar and more. Bring a chair and enjoy and afternoon with friends and family.

 

The Fusilier Museum - The Bury Big Help Out King’s Coronation Party

Part of the Bury Big Help Out will be held at the Gallipoli Garden’s at the Fusiliers Museum on Monday, May 8, from 10am to 4pm.

This will celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III with a special programme of activities in the Gallipoli Gardens.

The Rock, Bury - The King Rocks

To mark the King’s Coronation The Rock Shopping Centre will be holding an event on Monday, May 8, form 11.30am to 3pm.

The centre will host a “truly British” day of activities to celebrate the historic occasion.

Mill Gate Shopping Centre – AR Coronation Event

The Mill Gate have and will continue to host their “Hilarious Coronation Event” until Monday, May 8.

Starting on May 25, the Shopping Centre has been encouraging people to join the Animal Kingdom for their event.

Metro Christian Centre – Coronation Big Lunch

The Metro Christian Centre, Parkhills Road, Bury will also be hosting a big lunch on Sunday, May 7, from 2pm to 4pm

They will be celebrating the Coronation with music from Radcliffe Brass Band, farm animasl, a bouncy castle and a BBQ.

 

Fishpool, Goshen, Redvales & Springs Community Hub – Coronation Picnic

A coronation picnic is also taking place at Gigg Lane on Sunday, May 7, from 1.30pm.

Attendees are encourage to “bring a picnic and join the fun".

 

The Big Help Out at Margaret Haes Riding Centre

The centre, on Moor Road, Holcombe, will be joining the Big Help Out on Monday, May 8, from 10am to 4pm.

Voulenteers are advised to book on and help paint the stable and for Himalayan Balsam and Ragwort removal.

The Big Help Out with Radcliffe Litter Pickers

Meeting at Radcliffe Bandstand on the piazza, the litter pickers will come together with volunteers on Monday, May 8, at 10.30am.

They will join the Big Help Out with litter picking in Radcliffe and helping at St Mary’s Parish Church.
