A man and woman have been arrested on suspicion of burglary and driving offences in stop and search efforts.

It comes after the Prestwich South Neighbourhood team followed a stolen vehicle reportedly driving off after a burglary.

Officers were helped by the Transport Unit, dog officers, a helicopter, the Tactical Vehicle Intercept Unit (TVIU), and the firearms team.

On social media, a spokesperson for GMP Bury South said: “Following a burglary in Prestwich, South Neighbourhood officers pursued a stolen vehicle making off from the scene.

“With assistance from specialist force recourses including the Transport Unit, dog officers, helicopter, TVIU and firearms.

“A male and female were detained and arrested on suspicion of burglary and driving offences.”

Bury Times:

Police say that the man was driving an off-road bike and was detained and reported for driving without a driving licence and no insurance.

The vehicle has since been seized under and the driver was also dealt with for possession of a class B drug.

Officers also stopped and searched seven youths, and one was dealt with for possession of a class B drug.

Police also spotted 165 motorists across Sunny Bank Road, Rufford Drive, Thatch Leach Lane, Bury Old Road, Junction 17, Oak Lane, Bury New Road, Ringley Road, Kennedy Drive and Higher Lane, after they were found to be exceeding the speed limit last night, Monday.
