A lucky Bury resident had a front seat to a spectacular light show in the early hours of Friday morning after spotting the Northern Lights over Ramsbottom.
The Aurora Borealis was photographed from Tottington just after 12am on Friday morning.
Kelvin Sullivan captured the incredible sight which is caused by solar wind from the sun reacting with the earth's atmosphere.

The image was posted to the What’s On In Ramsbottom Facebook group where users shared their excitement and hopes of one-day spotting one themselves.

The BGS Geomagnetism team documented that on Friday, March 24, activity increased as storms reached the second highest level on their scales.

This meant people had a much better chance of viewing the lights.
