Police sealed off a section of woods in Bury yesterday, Wednesday, as officers investigated possible evidence relating to a historic case.
Residents living close to Chesham Woods reported seeing police cars, vans and forensic teams at the area with a cordon in place.

Officers were mainly focused close to the skate park coming out of the woods.
The specific case police are investigating has not been released.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: “Greater Manchester Police in Bury yesterday (Wednesday) cordoned off part of Chesham Park and adjoining woods, following intelligence received relating to a non-recent case.
“Officers will be on location to carry out a thorough search of the area identified and will keep disruption to the local community to a minimum.”

Council deputy cabinet member for environment, climate change and operations, Cllr Kevin Peel, said on Facebook: “The police are investigating an historic crime.
“Please be patient and avoid any closed off areas while the investigation and search for evidence is underway.”
