A well loved community cafe in Radcliffe will be hosting a volunteer fair next week aiming to empower people and help better the community.
Outreach Community and Residential Services have collaborated with Bury VCFA to host a volunteers fair at its coffee lounge on Blackburn Street on Wednesday, March 15 from 10am to 3pm.
There will be a range of groups promoting what they do including mental health organisations, food banks and men's and women's groups.
Volunteer programme manager at Outreach, Norman Shaw, is encouraging everyone to pop down, even if they are just curious, and have a cuppa, some hot food and a chat.

He said: “It is so important as social beings to have human contact with others in the real world, something so many has missed over these last years, and to keep up good mental health and social skills.
“Volunteering is always, and always will be, a super way of ensuring this and empowering people just to make a difference towards the wellbeing of individuals and the wider community.”

Each organisation will be able to inform about their volunteering opportunities face to face and answer any questions.
Norman said: “By volunteering, you can support an organisation you feel connected with or are interested in and meet new people and give something back to the local or wider community.
“It could also be as simple as the first steps towards a new career direction, which has been the case in respect of some of our previous Outreach volunteers who found paid work within Outreach after they volunteered.”
The organisations attending the event include:
- Outreach
- Bury VCFA sharing with Beacon Service
- Growing Together Radcliffe (representing other Radcliffe groups)
