Bury Council has warned drivers of disruption as it prepares to undertake essential roadworks in the town.

Water mains renewal works are required at the junction of Manchester Road with Radcliffe Road and repair work will commence on Saturday, April 1 lasting for approximately 2 weeks.

The works will replace an existing 4” cast iron water main with a newly laid 125mm PE water main as part of a major works mains renewal scheme in Bury BL9, working on behalf of United Utilities.

The works will require a closure of the left turn slip road from Manchester Road into Radcliffe Road, lane closures on Manchester Road and the prohibition of the right turn from Manchester Road into Parkhills Road.

It is expected that the works at this location will cause disruption and possible traffic delays. We advise drivers to allow extra time for their journey.

Signed diversion routes will be in place as follows: For the closure of the left turn slip road – via Manchester Road (northbound), Angouleme Way, Knowsley Street and Manchester Road (southbound).

For the prohibition of right turn from Manchester Road into Parkhills Road – via Manchester Road, Knowsley Street, Angouleme Way and Market Street.

Advanced signing will be placed on site prior to the works commencing and properties in the vicinity will be letter dropped.
